E.R.Tooley was a Colonel in the Victorian Regiment and commissioned the build of this boat. There is no specific detail of the design or shipwright although most seem to think that the Hull was built on the lines of a typical Salmon Troller of the period and that it was built by a Japanese Shipwright, which given it was pre-war 1931, makes sense. MEKO has had 9 other owners in her lifetime, and the ships name has always remained MEKO. Mike Haas picked up the vessel as a derelict in 2005 and stripped it down to the frames and rebuilt over a seven year period. Mike had the boat in the water a couple seasons and passed in 2018. the evidence of his craftsmanship is outstanding.
