Historical Summary:

ALTHEA was re-launched in April of 2006. Her repairs proved to be excellent and she was entered in the Seattle's Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival in early July where she was awarded first prize in all categories. She was then entered into the Victoria Classic Boat Festival where she earned The Best Power Boat award. She also took first prize at the 17th Annual Chris-Craft Rendezvous in Port Orchard and at the La Conner Wooden Boat Show.

Construction: Hull is mahogany on oak. Deck is teak. House is mahogany.

Engine: OMC model 502 King Cobra, 8.2 liter V8. Gasoline fueled, carborated, electronic ignition, fresh water cooled. The engine drives a 20/18 Nibril 3-blade propeller via a Mercruiser 2:1 reduction gear and a 1-3/8 inch stainless shaft. New shaft strut. Full engine controls and instrumentation at helm.

Tanks: Two 65 gallon fuel tanks, 18 gallon drinking water tank, 36 gallon waste tank.

Electrical: The 12-volt starting batteries provide 745 cranking amps. The 12-volt house batteries provide 100 amp hours of power. Pro Marine 4-stage, 20 amp, 120-volt battery charger for charging with shore power cord. 50-amp engine alternator charges all batteries when engine runs. 12-volt and 120-volt circuit breaker panels. Electrical outlets in cabin and the battery charger are 120-volt. All else is 12-volt.

Accommodations and Layout: Storage in forepeak. Next aft is forward cockpit with bench seating. Forward cockpit has snap-on canvas cover. Next aft through door, to port is the galley. The galley has a porcelain sink with hand pump, a 2-burner electric stove, cabinets and drawers.

Across from the galley, to starboard, is the head compartment with macerating, electric-flush head and folding porcelain 'pullman' style sink. Next aft to port is a cabinet with leaded-glass door. On the starboard side there's a closet.

Next aft is the main salon, with two settee berths across from each other, and storage behind the backrests. The backrests swing up to horizontal to form two additional berths. Table between settees swings and fastens aside, which makes for easy passage through the cabin. All new dark-green upholstery and accents, per the original in 1929.

Aft of the cabin and up steps is the open bridge-deck with helm on port side and seat to starboard. There's room for other seats on the bridge-deck. Bridge-deck has canvas bimmini top which folds down, and canvas weather cloths port and starboard. Down steps there is an aft cockpit with room to seat several.

Navigation: Lighted compass in binnacle. Uniden QT206 depth sounder with alarm. VHF radio.

Deck Equipment: Danforth anchor with 20 feet of chain and 200 feet of nylon rode line is marked in 50 foot increments. Dock lines, bumpers, boat hook.

Safety Equipment: Running lights and anchor light per US Coast Guard regulations. Helm, house, deck, and cockpit lighting. Search light mounted at helm. Two automatic bilge pumps total 2750 gallons/hour capacity. Engine room has a blower and automatic Halon fire extinguisher. Two fixed-mount Co2 extinguishers in closet and galley. Three portable Co2/Halon extinguishers in engine room and cabin. Life jackets and throw ring, horn, flares.

Maintenance: ALTHEA is in immaculate condition after her recent rebuild. All instruments and systems were new in 2006, including the engine. She is boathouse kept and professionally maintained. ALTHEA won the highest awards in 5 major shows throughout the Puget Sound region in the summer and fall of 2006.

Additional: Since 2008, $35,000 has been invested by Tom and Debby Davidson in detailing ALTHEA. These refinements have been made to bring her even closer to her original condition when new in 1929.
