Historical Summary:

Note: This Page superseded by Latitude, the new name of this boat.

Ananda
is a beautifully restored vintage 1929 Blanchard Standard Cruise. She was hand crafted by the famous Norman Blanchard boatworks on the banks on Lake Union in Seattle and has had a long line of caring owners in her 83 years that have restored her to be one of the best examples of the boats of that era afloat today. She is constructed of 1 7/8 Cedar planking over Oak frames. Her house was built of straight grain teak.

Since 1996, she has had a new Mahogany transom installed, a new 2008 Yanmar 76 HP diesel engine (650 hours), new transmission 2008, new wiring, new electric flush toilet with holding tank & deck pump out, new 1800 W inverter for 110V while underway 2013, new dark green canvas to enclose rear deck area, new propane heater & two-burner cooktop, new Galley counters, new Galley sink and plumbing, all surfaces refinished in the past 2 years. All brass hardware is original as are the copper countertop in the head and the hand pounded copper sink there as well. She has two very cool search lights; a large brass one on top of the cabin and another on the foredeck handy for approaching a slip at night. For electronics she has the basics; VHF Marine radio & Fish-finder/Depth Sounder.

"ANANDA" is a beautiful example of a boat from the 1920's that turns heads everywhere she is seen. She is a comfortable ride, stable, warm, and dry in all weather due to her covered & fully enclosed passenger area. Commanding the helm of this boat is a joy because of her efficient hull design and center of motion. Although she is a single screw boat, she is very easy to control and docking her is not difficult. One of the best features is her fuel economy... With her Yanmar diesel, over the past 425 hours I have put on her since November 2012, she has averaged a remarkable 0.50 gallon per hour!
