Built by James Chambers, who had been the instructor of the Seattle School Districts Broadway Edison Boat Shop.  The boat building classes began at Broadway High School, but then moved to the Edison Building, and then to Lake Union at the foot of Stoneway Avenue, and are now a part of Seattle Central Community College.
