Historical Summary:

Cherokee was built in Morris Heights, N.Y by Consolidated Ship Builders in 1924 for H.J. Heinz.

In the 1920′s the well to do traveled to Manhattan by luxury yachts. Cherokee spent most of her life in Old Mystic, C.T a harbor with many vintage classic yachts rich in maritime history.

After a refit in 2002 Cherokee was sold for $350,000.00 and made a trip to Fort Lauderdale, F.L, then returned to Old Mystic, C.T. She was purchased by Gerald W. Ford on April 7th the birthday of one of the current owners. Billy Joel and Henry Ford were owners of a Consolidated Ship. From 1940 to 1944 Consolidated built over 40 submarine chasers for the U.S. Navy.
