Evening Star

Historical Summary:

Launched: April 2, 1938
Owners: Milt and Cynthia Henderson, Portland, 1938-1969
Heine and Peggy Dole, Gig Harbor, 1969-2000
Tom and Ben Dyer, Seattle, 2000 –  (Son and grandson of the designer/builder)

Evening Star was built as a sturdy cruising yacht, and now has cruised over 150,000 nautical miles. The Doles made only two substantive changes: addition of the flying bridge, and installation of a dry exhaust stack. They also played an important role in introducing the white Spirit bears of British Columbia to the environmental community. Evening Star has been continually operated and maintained, and has never required restoration.
