Historical Summary:
This motor yacht was purchased initially by Walter Bowes, partner and founder of Pitney Bowes, when he came to the Washington D.C. area to oversee the contract for the new postal metering system purchased by the U. S. Postal System. Subsequently she has spent her life on the Chesapeake Bay.
When stepping aboard FOXGLOVE, one takes a trip back in time when yachts were grand and when everyone would take time to watch one pass on by. With its abundant use of brass and bronze fittings and stunning mahogany woodwork both inside and out, one can only wonder just who may have strolled her decks during the golden age. The decks, both fore and aft, are quite spacious. There is a full width awning that affixes to the aft end of the wheelhouse and extends to the transom providing plenty of shade for those sultry summer days. There is a large two berth and bath state room forward, a full galley, spacious pilot house and spacious owners state room and head aft.
FOXGLOVE has been beautifully restored to its original splendor and waits to share her fascinating story of early 20th century boating on the Chesapeake Bay with all who come aboard.
