Kalua

Historical Summary:

Kalua's first owner was Mr. G. T. Cruise of West Vancouver, BC, who registered KALUA in 1957 in Vancouver, BC.  She was registered again in Victoria, BC in 1969 to Mr. F.O Oliver and Mrs. P.O. Oliver of Victoria. The next registration change was in 1970 with ownership by Mr. M. O. Weston and Mr. P. W. Weston of Delta, BC. A further ownership change was registered in 1989 to five Weston family members of Victoria, BC. There is an unofficial record that Mr. M. Weston took ownership in 2004 and sold the boat in 2013 to Mr. C. D. Baird of Victoria, BC.  Current owners purchased the boat from Mr. Baird in 2014, with the port of registry remaining as Victoria, BC.

Construction & Layout: Raked stem and tumblehome transom. Vee bottom, hard chined, low deadrise. Raised foredeck with teak decks. White painted topsides. Stained and varnished Honduran Mahogany cabin sides, bridge, and aft cockpit. Engines under aft cockpit sole.Upper helm on open bridge and lower helm port side in saloon. Twin bunks in foc'sle and twin beds in aft cabin. Galley on stbd, opposite salon helm. Head in foc'sle, and head with shower in aft cabin.

Performance: 750 litres of fuel in 4 tanks. Capable of 20 kts. Usual cruise at 8-10 kts at 16-20 litres/hr.
