Patamar was built in 1937 in a barn on family property in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle, by a UW graduate and Boeing engineer.  The plans were from Jake Farrell who was known for designing rumrunners.  The house is teak, the planking red cedar, and frames are white oak.  It has a hard chine. The power was originally a Studebaker 6, but was repowered in the 1970s by a GMC 292 overhead valve 6 gasoline engine.  The distinctive green canvas decking is original.  The boat has been maintained by its fifth owner and resides in a boathouse near the Ballard Locks.
