Sea Boarder

Historical Summary:

Long time CYA member Jim Kroeger found his grandfather’s old boat “Sea Boarder”  at a Newport Beach Wooden Boat Festival in 2015. He became friends with the owner who had acquired her several years earlier and was nearly done with a complete restoration. Shortly after, the owner decided to sell the boat (on the advice of his wife!). Jim still has his steamboat, but is now the proud caretaker of his grandfather’s old boat too!

He has made a copy of his grandfather’s original insignia — a pipe with a curl of smoke — and Mounted it at the top of the pilot house. He also put his photo in the boat, and when he goes out to sea, he asks the question, "I say, 'Granddaddy, will you guarantee us good sailing today?' "
