Historical Summary:
My wife and I have owned this boat since 1984. We were fresh out of architecture graduate school when we saw her listing 20 degrees in her berth in San Rafael, California. We contacted the owner..... he was eager to get her off his hands. We commenced a restoration project in January of 1985 that has lasted until May of 2017. During these years, we have raised our family on this boat in the summers and made substantive improvements to her during the off seasons. These improvements include everything from a new transom, hull refastening and new stainless steel windshield systems to new engines, upsized shafts and logs, plumbing wiring, deck, paint, chrome and varnish. Over the years, all the aluminum that was built into the boat originally has been replaced with either polished stainless steel or chrome plated bronze. My parents had a boat identical to this in 1965. My parents, siblings and I explored the San Juan Islands in their Owens. My parents sold their Owens in '69 and I always wanted one just like it. In so many ways, this boat represents the importance of family, adventure, history, stewardship and sustainability.
