    Blue Log

ONE OF 10 BUILT FOR GOVERNMENT SERVICE IN 1942.
Sold to Joe Lavin of Lavin's Marina in West Barrington, RI, as government surplus from Quincy, Massachusetts, shipyard in 1948. Superstructure rebuilt as tri-cabin motor yacht in 1950's and 60's. The boat has been rebuilt over last 50 years by David Griswold from Riverside, RI. This work includes: new stem; 1/2" steel plate sandwiching keel; new white oak keel from stem to 6' into steel; new sister ribs and cross braces; new shaft log and deadwood; new propeller shaft. This boat is stronger than when it was built, now in the water and running. I introduced David Griswold to help the previous owner in the early 1960's, and have helped him on the rebuild until he could not physically complete the work. David famously bought the boat from Jack Lavin at the Brick Alley Pub for a Rum Coke.
