From Tad Roberts Facebook post, 12/15/24:
Chicago was never a hotbed of yacht design, but designer A.M. Deering of that city gets literally no recognition in the annals. Deering drew this big motoryacht in 1953, he obviously knew what he was doing and was quite prolific from after the war through the 1950's. But google can't give me a bit of personal information about the man, not even his first name. He gets zero mention in the Encyclopedia of Yacht Designers, though he's not alone there.
The boat was designed for a Mr. McEnery of Erie PA, and built at the Herman Lund yard of the same city. She's 54'11" overall with 14'2" beam and 3'2" draft. Design displacement was 41,500 lbs and twin 6-71's of 200 HP were expected to give speeds up to 18mph.
